GETTING INVOLVED

There are many ways almost any parishioner can help us thrive as a Parish, many in service to others and many in personal spiritual growth. These are the various ministries currently active at Christ Church Anglican. In what will you participate? Where can you help?

Worship

Altar Guild This guild is responsible for the setup of the altar and for the care and cleaning of all the appointments. Directress: Connie Smith 480-483-8280

Flower Guild This guild provides the floral arrangements for all worship services and decorates the church for special occasions. Directresses: Celeste Moshier 480-596-6895 and Debbie Moudy 480-948-4207

Lay Readers Lay readers participate in worship by reading the appointed scripture readings for the service and leading the Prayers of the People.

Chalice Bearers Chalice bearers are appointed by the clergy and licensed by the bishop to administer the chalice during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Acolytes Young people in the sixth grade through high school are encouraged to participate in worship services by carrying the cross, torches, and Gospel book and by serving at the altar. Coordinator: Marie Manor 480-990-2797

Ushers Ushers welcome people to worship services, provide bulletins, collect the offering, and assist those with physical limitations. Coordinator: Mark Schaecher 602-840-6319

Choir The choir provides musical leadership for the congregation during worship services. Choirmaster: Aaron Petersen 763-210-8104

Wednesday Morning Men’s Prayer A morning prayer service is held at 7:00AM on Wednesdays. Call Bill Baker 602-861-1567

Children, Youth & Family Ministries

Sunday School Teachers and Aides Teachers and Aides work two to three Sundays per month, presenting the weekly Bible story, music and other activities to preschool through sixth grade students.

Teachers and Youth Group Leaders Adult volunteers teach Sunday morning classes, help with activities, and serve as chaperones. Director: Ryan Taylor 602-955-2040

Nursery Volunteers These volunteers assist our paid Nursery staff on Sunday mornings (8:45 – 11:45AM) and for special events at various times throughout the year. Call Beth Weicht 602-870-5133

Adult Education

Sunday Morning Adult Education Following refreshments after the Sunday morning service, a 45 minute to one hour Adult Education session is held in the Fellowship Hall. Coordinators: Frank Consalvo and George VanDeWyngaerde.

Specified Wednesday Evenings Come for a light supper at 6:00PM and spend an hour or so afterwards listening to and participating in a variety of presentations related to Christian education and spiritual growth.

Hospitality

Welcomers The welcomers greet visitors before and after worship services, provide them with information about the parish, and help them meet others.

Coffee Hour Parishioners take turns hosting a time for light refreshments and fellowship after the Sunday Worship service. Coordinator: Catherine Carter 602-252-5582

Meals That Heal This group provides meals for those who could use some extra help due to such things as sickness, a move, or the birth of a child. Coordinator: Marie Manor 480-990-2797

Special Food Events Food is provided for receptions after weddings, funerals, and a variety of other events at the church. Coordinator: Pat Jones 602-992-4841


Outreach

Phoenix Rescue Mission Christ Church Anglican supports community outreach through the Phoenix Rescue Mission, a Christian-based ministry to the poor and homeless. Our support consists of all church food drives, serving meals to the homeless, and supporting special events. Coordinator: Frank Woods 602-867-0615

Chrysalis Shelters This shelter serves women, children and men who are affected by domestic violence. Coordinator: Marj Pelham 602-942-1863

Pastoral Care

Sacraments For information regarding Baptism, Confirmation, and Marriage, please call the parish office. The clergy are also available for anointing, counseling, and Confession.

Pastoral Care Services Care and support is given to those in need by pastoral care volunteers. Coordinators: Sue Harper 602-955-7185 and Kay Drozdowski 480-998-7622.

Lay Eucharist Ministers These specially trained chalice bearers bring the sacrament to parishioners who are physically unable to come to church.

Support Group for Grief and Loss This group offers constructive support and encouragement for those experiencing any grief or loss. Coordinator: Kay Drozdowski 480-998-7622

Prayer & Healing Teams These groups pray regularly for those on our Prayer List and also for healing during our worship services and in homes. Coordinators: Don and Genie Street 480-940-6612

Fellowship

Small Group Fellowships Groups are formed for a variety of purposes to provide for both spiritual and social growth as individuals within a Christian community.

Monthly “Moms Night Out” A monthly gathering of young mothers. Includes Bible study, discussion of selected books and general fellowship. Call Tracy Schutte 602-569-0095

Women’s Bible Study A women’s Bible study group meets at 9:45AM on Thursdays. A brief social time is followed by study and prayer, ending by 11:15AM. Call Sue Harper 602-955-7185

Men’s Bible Study A men’s Bible study group meets at 6:00AM on Fridays. A brief social time is followed by study and prayer, ending by 7:30AM.

Other

Property Management This group is responsible for the care, maintenance, and use of our church property. Some minimal technical experience needed, some physical assistance, and the scheduling of space for use by three different entities. Call Bart Thompson 480-948-5424

Stewardship Men and women are needed to help raise the funds necessary to operate our church and the many services and ministries it provides for parishioners and the community at large. Coordinator: Marc Smith 480-483-8280

Office Management Occasional part-time and temporary help is needed to handle special projects and events or provide coverage for illness or absence of regular staff.

Communications Committee This committee writes newsletters, develops website content, composes parish emails, manages public relations and oversees parish historical records. Good writing, organizing, web programming and photographic skills are needed. Call Jane Allred 480-483-3142
